The Urban Land Institute Advisory Panel summarized their late January advisory panel’s work into 14 key infrastructure suggestions for local consideration, said Brian Jenest, LNTC chair.

“We feel the panel had excellent data in advance of their local work, and while here heard from more than 100 civic and business leaders on what needs to happen,” Jenest commented.  “Of course, the panel mixed in their unique perspectives from across the US and served up an agenda for economic growth.”

 

The recommendation included: Remind everyone that the Four Towns are an integral part of the Charlotte/Mecklenburg Centers, Corridors and Wedges planning and land use plan; re-brand Lake Norman as a more vital part of the Charlotte metro than just recreation; future transit must link with other plans for local mobility; further document economic potential of the north ‘Red’ commuter rail line.

Also, plan for a new north/south parkway, east of NC 115 to provide additional N/S access; identify local revenues to assist/catalyze road and rail funding, such as Tax Increment Financing (TIF) or Special Assessment Districts (SAD); engage Charlotte, Mecklenburg and
