District 98 Representative Thom Tillis, who is also Speaker of the NC House, met November 9th with the LNTC as Mr. Tillis and the group exchanged views on State budge issues, innovation in government and the Red Line Rail Project.

Generally Tillis favors the user fee approach to funding all transportation infrastructure and is open to further discussion about how the State can enable local governments to fund more local needs

The Speaker is focused on State governmental efficiencies and public/probate ventures to help close a projected budget gap next year.  He also believes the gast tax will continue to decline, necessitating finding other recurring revenues for roads and rail.
