The Mecklenburg/Union Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO) reaffirmed last month the allocation of $147 million to constructing two grade separations on Independence Blvd. ( Highway 74) at Sharon Amity and Idlewild Roads, a distance of 1.1 miles. This decision was made following a staff analysis of community benefit from reallocating these revenues to the completion of I-485 in northwest Charlotte, the remaining 5 miles needed to complete the 67 miles loop interstate.
