In April and May, the Lake Norman Transportation Commission unanimously supported the widening of NC 73 from I-77 through the NC 115 intersection, and the interstate and other road improvements associated with the Augustalee urban village project in Cornelius.  The recommendations were then submitted to the four towns elected boards, with no objections.

The Highway 73 widening project deals with one of the State’s most congested and unsafe 2 miles of road.  With construction documents nearing bid state, the work should be underway by early fall, with an 18 month completion anticipated.
